preEnter
Tuesday, 23. January 2007

preEnter is a audiovisual project which involves the audience in an interesting way: There are set up 6 flat bed scanners which people can use the way they like it and the results are being used for an audiovisual live performance later on. Watch out for the video documentation.
The people behind this project are from the german artist group YouAreWatchingUs.

Piano con moto
Monday, 8. January 2007

Piano con moto is an interesting audiovisual project by Claudia Rohrmoser (video/animation), Kotoka Suzuki (music), Rainer Kohlberger (live video) and Gerhard Daurer (audio and video processing). It’s a live piano performance combined with a beautiful visual part, which combines a lovely analogue aesthetic with a modern generative technique. Video Preview 1, 2.
The world premiere is at the Ultraschall Festival in Berlin, at the 25th of January. Second performance at the 26th.
Because almost all participants (everyone except Kotoka) are from Multimediaart, I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed if you can manage to watch it :)

Drawing with sound. A nice flash application from ample design (uk) enables this in a very elegant way:

Thursday, 21. December 2006

The director So_Me (who seems to have no website at all?) made a very nice music video for Justice VS Simian’s “We are your friends”:

wii music
Monday, 18. December 2006

As already mentioned in interesting wii hacks, the potential of the wii remote is enormous. It will be used as input device for all imaginable things. This posts deals with the musical use; I think the Band will be complete soon.

weather controlled music video
Friday, 15. December 2006

Daniel Scheibel and Ferdinand Weinrother, both students of the University of Applied Science Augsburg (ger) made a music video which is influenced by your geographical position and its current weather state. You can watch it at theunseenvideo.com, where they also offer interesting background information, like overviews of the different object states, and precise data about which parameters are influenced by which weather aspect.

A very honorable project, which convinces through innovation, use of technology AND style!

the flaming lips live
Thursday, 7. December 2006

If you ever have the opportunity to see The Flaming Lips live - go there! It doesn’t even matter if you like the music… the show is absolutely amazing! I just saw a video with new gadgets (Laserpointers) at Hi-Res, what reminded me of their concert I saw this year in Munich. They are able to bring the whole crowd in such a peaceful and harmonic mood, that’s really indescribable.

Grandaddy -
Monday, 6. November 2006

I just found an interesting musicvideo for Grandaddy’s “Jed’s Other Poem (Beautiful Ground)”. It’s programmed in Applesoft II on a 1979 Apple ][ with 48K of RAM… so you can really call it minimal. But it fits the mood very well:

Oasis - The Masterplan
Monday, 30. October 2006

Perhaps some of you know my partiality for Oasis - or even my t-shirt. The problem with Oasis is that, their best songs are not very famous, and the upcoming Best-Of album won’t change this. One of this best songs is The Masterplan, and for those who don’t know it (because it’s not on Morning Glory), I just found a nice animation video on YouTube:

PS: Probably one of my Top5-Heard-Live-Songs
